The rule that matters most
We do not publish an identifiable photo of a child without written consent on file from a parent, guardian, or the institution responsible for that child's care. This applies to our website, our social media, and any printed materials.
Why
Several of our projects serve children's homes and care institutions. The children we serve deserve the same dignity and protection online that we'd want for our own families — and consent has to come first, not be assumed because a photo was taken during a charitable event.
How we handle it in practice
- Every photo uploaded to our system is flagged if it shows a minor.
- A flagged photo cannot be published anywhere on this site until consent is recorded against it.
- Where consent isn't available, we prefer photos taken from behind, over the shoulder, or focused on hands and materials rather than faces — or we simply photograph the volunteers instead.
- The same standard applies to any adult who asks not to be photographed or published.
At our events
If you attend one of our events and would prefer not to appear in photos we publish, please let the event coordinator know — we'll make sure it's respected.
Requesting removal
If you believe a photo of you or someone in your care has been published without appropriate consent, contact us and we will remove it promptly while we look into it.
